I made this video earlier today with the soothing sounds of the ocean. The video is over 75 minutes of wave sounds. I usually only listen to waves when I’m at the beach, but today was different.
I haven’t been able to stop listening to the waves. They have a gentle rhythm that makes me smile. My shoulders feel more relaxed from listening to them. No joke.
Now, I’ll admit, I’d love to have a coconut, warm sand, and crystal clear water to dive into—but for this moment—these sounds of the waves are treating me well.
I think you might enjoy it also. Take a listen. Just press play and go about doing all those little things you do on the computer, and you’ll forget about the sounds of the waves for a little while. They’ll fade into the background and then all of a sudden, something will bring their sound back into you awareness.
“Oh yeah!” you’ll think to yourself, “I’m listening to the waves.” And in that moment—that very moment when you become aware of their sound—notice how you feel. Tune in with your body, your mind, and your thoughts. Simply notice. You don’t need to change anything or do anything other than feel that very moment of coming back to the sound of the waves.
I noticed that I was in my head a lot of the time. Thinking. Reminiscing. Daydreaming. Each time the sound of the waves called me back, I was realized that I had been busy thinking about something.
A memory: I was 5-years-old, standing in wet sand. I’d keep my feet in one place and let the waves wash over my ankles. As the water was drawn back into the ocean it would rush past my little legs, making me feel like I was surfing, burying my feet in the sand. I still love doing that.
It feels good to revisit those moments and to feel how those memories make me feel now.
I’d love to hear about your experience.
